Haut de pageEvaluation process
Three types of text are published in the journal:
-
Texts fitting in thematic dossiers or proposals for thematic dossiers
-
Articles for varia section
-
Thematic critical notes based on recent publications, book reviews or cross-readings of the same book.
The procedure for the selection of articles is conducted in four steps:
-
The article or the proposed thematic issue is first read and evaluated by the collegiate board of the journal who judges its worth for an expert reading.
-
The article is anonymously evaluated by a member of the editorial board and two readers not affiliated with the journal, specialists in the field covered by the article. Four cases are possible: A/accepted as such; B/accepted but subject to minor changes; C/accepted but subject to substantial revisions; D/refused. In case of conflicting evaluations, the editorial board may submit the project to a third expert for arbitration.
-
In cases B and C, the recommendations of the experts, are transmitted anonymously to the authors, invited to submit a second version (the changes and deletions must be clearly indicated in the body of the text), accompanied by a case statement that explains why these recommendations have been taken into account (or not).
-
The articles and final versions are considered good for publication by the editorial management under the auspices of the board.
How to submit an article
General
Articles should be sent to marion.paulhac@ehess.fr.
Each article must be between 45,000 and 55,000 characters, including spaces, notes, abstracts and bibliography.
The journal is trilingual and accepts articles in French, English and Spanish.
Each article must imperatively be accompanied by a dozen lines abstract in French, English and Spanish, as well as 5 keywords in these three languages. More than the approach of the research, the text of the abstract should spell out the main findings resulting from the article in terms of new knowledge.
• Photos, accompanied by their caption and their status in relation to the copyright law, will be delivered in .tiff format (300 pixels per inch min.). We prefer CMYK to RGB.
• The signature of the article is as follows under the title of the article:

Publishing in the Bibliographical Bulletin
For a description of the different sections of the Bulletin bibliographique, see the presentation.
For the sections "The workshop of the social sciences of religions", "Cross-readings" and "Critical notes", the texts are subject to the same rules of evaluation as well as the same standards of writing applied for the articles presented in the thematic/varia issues.
Cross-readings must not exceed 16,000 characters. Critical notes should be between 20,000 and 40,000 characters, including spaces.
Book Reviews should not exceed 12,000 characters (unless the editor agrees in advance). They should not include footnotes or a final bibliography. Authors are asked to indicate, at the beginning of the text, the author's first name (in full) and surname, the full title of the work, the place of publication, the publisher, the year of publication and the number of pages. Authors must return reviews within three months of receiving the book. The books reviewed remain the property of the authors of the review, who also receive a copy of the issue to which they contributed.
Bibliography
The journal applies the author-date method, for example, (Durkheim, 1992 : 620).
At the end of the article, the bibliography is presented in alphabetical order of authors (or titles if there is no author). References by the same author follow each other in ascending chronological order. All references in the bibliography must correspond to references cited in the text, and vice versa.
When the number of authors is 5 or more, only the name of the first author is given, followed by "et al.".
Books
The date of first publication may be indicated in square brackets. The name of the collection is optional. For example:
Davie Grace, 1994, Religion in Britain since 1945: Believing without Belonging, Oxford, Cambridge, Mass., Blackwell.
Translations
For books or articles translated into English, specify the names of the translators and the original date of publication.
