Équivoques de la religion et politiques de la laïcité en Europe. Réflexions à partir de l’islam
Abstracts
In this contribution the “Islamic veil” serves to think about a global logic: how religion, specifically Islam, is integrated in contemporary society where the place of religion is still questionnable, even in countries like France where the separation between religion and State is official? Three main points are developed. First, the idea of a hierarchical structure determining the respective perceptions of the different religions and their capacity to be recognized and integrated in the global society. Second, the critic of the religion as an authoritarian ideological category and its pertinence to define and investigate many of the social and cultural facts. Third, an extended reflection on secularisation and religion in relation with the questions of universalism and multiculturalism, communitarism and citizenship, integration and exclusion. Instances developed in this text are from France and Switzerland.
